  1. >“This is a separate offence to corporate manslaughter and focuses on the grossly negligent action or inaction of individuals. It is important to note that this does not impact on the convictions of Lucy Letby for multiple offences of murder and attempted murder.

Surely this will depend on what exactly led to gross negligence? Is it because they deliberately ignored/directly contributed to the awful conditions the neo-natal wards were in, or is it because they deliberately ignored the warnings Letby’s colleagues gave to them? If it’s the former then Letby’s conviction is even more likely to be unsafe, if it’s the latter then it’s the opposite.

  2. About damn time, how the hell did they get away with the obvious negligence in the first place?

  3. No this doesn’t mean she’s innocent and it doesn’t mean the police think she’s innocent.

  4. For some idea of what the context of this might be. During the inquiry the assistant coroner testified that they (the coroners) were not informed about the hospital’s suspicions about Letby when investigating. He was extremely critical of this, since it materially changes how they would have investigated (i.e. they would have went to the police instead of conducting a standard report). It was pointed out that misleading a coroner during investigation is akin to misleading a court.

  5. Yeah, mindless speculation and axe grinding isn’t helpful.

Just let the police get on with their jobs.

  6. I think hospitals should have cameras. Just use that technology that blurs the faces except for the staff.

  7. The higher ups from CoCH will be squeezing their arseholes shut seeing this.

*ive just seen that the 3 have been bailed*

  8. It doesn’t mean she’s any more or less innocent or guilty than she is.

These are separate charges because safeguarding and patient safety concerns were not appropriately dealt with. Staff concerns were not actioned or investigated.

Regardless of Lucy’s culpability, there are deaths that were avoidable

  9. Regardless of whether LL did it or not, I’m not convinced either way, the death rate and circumstances definitely need criminal investigations.

Something isn’t right. If LL did it, they should have caught it. If she didn’t do it, they should have realised something was wrong regardless.

  10. Either they knew she was up to no good or were so incompetent they didn’t see it. Either way it is very bad look for the Hospital there.

  11. Whether she’s innocent or guilty these three should be arrested.

If innocent, they’d rather blame it on a murderer than explain their lack of care and shitty infant mortality figures.

If guilty they had so little oversight that they let a serial killer run rampant in their hospital.

    I mean…..

  12. Good. The resistance senior management had to safeguarding those babies from Letby when the doctors began to raise their concerns is astonishing and they should face justice for allowing her to continue to murder and maim tiny babies in their care.

  13. The bar for GNM is quite high. I’m not a lawyer but the CPS website says the following tests have to be met,

    Whether the damage was foreseeable;

Whether the claimant was in an appropriate position of proximity to the defendant; and

Whether it was fair and just to impose liability on the defendant.

All those sound very defendable to me. Although the released email conversations amongst the management didn’t look good I suspect every organisation in the land, public or private adopts the same approach under pressure.

That said the police and CPS must be confident of securing convictions.

  14. Doesn’t surprise me. The release of the e-mails a few months back did not paint a pretty picture. A complete lack of urgency and curiosity in trying to get to the bottom of what was going on being the obvious main one.

I urge everyone to check the below which shows a timeline of events along with e-mails and notes sent at the time.

I think the most suspicious part is the message that suggests they no longer discuss the situation via e-mail which makes me think they knew at the time something was up and the evidence trail would paint them in a bad light. Like no shit!

I did post this on another sub but thought it was relevant to here as well.

  15. Good. Anyone who remotely had a hand in this, or through inaction allowed her to continue should be rotting in a cell next to her.

  16. Yet all those who were higher ups in the grooming gang scandals have faced what again…
