Jury returns to deliberate for a second day at Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex trafficking trial

after a seven-week trial the jury will now decide whether or not Shawn Combmes is guilty of sex trafficking and racketeering the hip hop star and record producer known variously in his career as Puff Daddy or P diddy is accused of coercing former girlfriends to take part in sex parties with male escorts two of them the rhythm and blue singer Cassandra Cassie Ventura and a woman referred to in court as Jane told jurors that he forced them to have sex with the escorts while he watched masturbated and occasionally filmed ventura tearfully told the court that Combmes had raped her in 2018 after she ended their decadel long relationship the court was also shown hotel surveillance footage of Combmes beating and kicking Ventura prosecutors dropped some of the charges Combmes faced including kidnapping and arson a rapper Scott Mscudi accused him of burning his car because he had been having an affair with Cassie Ventura col’s lawyers considered attack to be the best form of defense uh the defense did not put on any witnesses and Colbmes did not testify on his own behalf but they used their cross-examination their turn to question the prosecution witnesses to try to undercut those allegations and in closing arguments uh right uh on the eve of deliberations uh the defense implored the jury to consider all of the evidence and to acquit Cols before the jury convened Judge Arun Subramanian reminded jurors of their obligation to deliberate and follow his instructions about the law after concerns about one particular juror combmes 55 could face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of all five of the charges he faces
