  1. Senate Republicans are threatening to hike taxes on clean energy projects and abruptly phase out credits that have supported the industry’s expansion in the latest version of President Donald Trump’s big spending bill.

    The measures, if enacted, would jeopardize hundreds of thousands of construction jobs, hurt the electric grid, and potentially raise electricity prices for consumers, trade groups warn.

    Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., said she’s “OK with that” when she was asked about the details of the provision. But she, too, was in the dark about who inserted it.

    Anyone can sneak in anything in the bill in the US Senate.

    Cynthia just needed 72,767 votes to win the Senate. Freaking 72,000 votes and you can fuck up the entire US economic future.

  6. This will set renewable energy back by a decade, handing the energy future to China, all while guaranteeing massive destruction of the climate and economy.

    All while adding $3.3 trillion to the debt we’ll pass to our kids, and kicking millions off of healthcare. And for what? So psychopaths like Thiel and Hamm can enjoy still more tax cuts? So ExxonMobil, Koch and the Southern Company can keep racking up more climate debts while home insurance becomes unaffordable?

  8. “Solar and wind industry [in the USA]” China and Europe are fine, will continue to extend their lead towards fuel-free “free” electricity. Oh well, it is what it is.

    There is no coming back from this.

  10. In addition to the new Republican tax penalties, Trump’s tariffs will add even more to the cost of solar since he’s trying to kill American manufacturing for all alternative energy sources.

    The world is passing us by as Republicans cling to coal and oil. We’re no longer world leaders or innovators. We’re just going to bury our heads in the sand and dream about the past.

  14. As we regress to oil and coal, I wonder when we will make the ultimate renewable and transition to wood?

  15. I would say history will look at this as a mistake. However, human history is in its final chapter. Climate catastrophe is now. Not decades from now.
