King Charles is thought to be in another fall out with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, this time with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at the heart of it.

The British monarch has been caught up in the drama after it was revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have launched a battle to obtain new passports for their children, with plans for them to potentially take up working royal status again in the future amid a potential UK return. However, the news has not been welcomed, particularly after Meghan and Harry’s public exit in 2020 and their many outspoken comments about the royal family since.

A friend of the couple, speaking to The Guardian, claimed the move was that “when they grow older, they can decide for themselves whether they want to become working royals or stay out of public life.”

However, now, after facing complications during the process and waiting for approvals, it’s been said that the Duke and Duchess believe King Charles has been the source of the delay.

Buckingham Palace refuted this with a statement that said, “King Charles, battling cancer and governing an entire monarchy, has better and more important matters to handle than meddling in passport applications.”

According to The Daily Mail, King Charles found it “incredulous and bemusing, to say the least,” that Archie and Lilibet could be working royals following their parents’ decision to step back in 2020.

It’s also thought that Prince William, next in line for the throne, would also block any chance of Archie or Lilibet taking up a role in the royal family.

A source close to the Prince of Wales reportedly told The Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes, “William obviously isn’t going to hire Archie and Lilibet. This is just trolling on the part of Harry and Meghan.”

Similarly, royal commentator Richard Eden further reported in The Daily Mail, “From what I am told, the removal of Archie and Lilibet’s HRHs could be part of a wider ‘slimming down’ of the Monarchy when William becomes King.”
