Croatia Airlines and Zagreb Airport held a special ceremony on Tuesday to mark the official launch of five new seasonal routes as part of the airline’s expanded summer flight schedule.
The national carrier inaugurated flights from Zagreb to Hamburg and Bucharest on Tuesday, with new routes to Milan, Madrid, and Prague set to take off by the end of the week. The first seasonal flight from Hamburg arrived in Zagreb just after noon, welcomed by officials and diplomats representing Germany, Romania, Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic—countries now newly connected by Croatia Airlines.

Zagreb–Madrid: Launching Thursday, July 3
Zagreb–Prague: Launching Friday, July 4
All five new routes will operate three times per week through the end of October 2024.
A Growing Network Thanks to Fleet Renewal
The airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Slaven Žabo, said the expanded network has been made possible by the renewal of Croatia Airlines’ fleet with Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The sleek new jet also performed the inaugural Hamburg–Zagreb flight.
Žabo noted that the airline carried approximately 10% more passengers in the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2023, describing June traffic as “very strong.”
A Boost for Zagreb’s Global Connectivity
The CEO of Zagreb Airport (MZLZ), Huseyin Bahadir Bedir, welcomed the new direct links, saying they significantly enhance the city’s connectivity with key European destinations.
Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, called Croatia Airlines a long-standing strategic partner and praised the move as “an important step toward raising Zagreb’s international profile.”
This summer, Croatia Airlines will operate flights on 55 international routes, connecting Zagreb to 23 destinations and Croatia to 30 destinations across 31 European airports. The airline plans to operate over 18,200 flights in its 2024 summer schedule—a 7% increase compared to last year.
