'He said if the money had been paid to hire a hit man it would be "absolutely ridiculous" that Mr Lewis had contacted the police to complain he had been scammed.'
'Defending Mr Saunders, John Harrison said his client was known as "dippy Dominique" and incapable of arranging a hit man.'
As one of the defence rightly said, 'if the case "wasn't so serious for the defendants it would be funny".'

But he still tried to pay a guy to kill his estranged wife?

Excellent defence “your honour, my client is a proper moron.”
My mam had jury duty for this case and got to see the defendants but was taking off of it the next morning, she said both of them made a point of staring the jury down as they walked past and that the Dominique bloke was absolutely huge and intimidating looking, crazy that I just happened to scroll past.
So one got away with trying to pay someone to kill his wife (even if there was no intention from the other guy in following though), and the other guy got away with scamming someone out of £1,500.
