Theres been issues in Ireland with shit heads on scramblers for what feels like forever. Was there not some new law passed recently to give the guards new powers over scrambler use?!
We had constant hassle with scramblers in my estate and I rang the guards over and over but nothing ever happened.
They’d be up on the paths, flying around the green while kids played football and just being little pricks in general.
Someone gave me an email of some high up guard who, apparently if you send a complaint in writing, will investigate and get back to you.
Nothing. Thankfully no one was hurt and I was very happy to hear that one of the scumbags had their bike stolen on them.
Thank Christ she is OK. I fucking hate scramblers. Last summer there were two teenagers round the corner from me who would speed around the area on them. I saw one of them crash it into a tree after he list control. There are a lot of elderly people here who were afraid to go out because of them. While I don’t condone it, it took a group of people threatening the family to stop it. The guards were useless. The family have since moved and the area has calmed down considerably.

IMO all cars/motorbikes/etc should only be sold if the purchaser can provide a driver licence. Sellers, including private sales, should be legally required to take a copy of this ID (or at least the ID number) for it to be sent with the change of ownership details. If this isn’t done, there should be large fine for the seller (with reasonable caveats).
We need better traceability for these things. So many cars/bikes are bought on the cheap with false names/addresses. Obviously an ID can still be forged, but it would be a deterrent.

Ok, can we just ban scramblers within the limits of all populated areas. They’re 99% only being used by little scumbags.
Didn’t somebody have a scrambler land on their head in a park in Dublin a few years ago, suffered a traumatic brain injury and lost an eye. As far as I remember nothing much happened in prosecutions. I get that the guards are hamstrung by the lenient courts, but they have vehicle seizure powers so a massive focused crackdown is well within their remit.
It feels like the Garda put more effort into stopping electric scooters than scramblers

Absolute pricks. Thank god she’s alive. I absolutely despise those bikes. I was walking along the canal with my dog and a teen, no more than 15 came SPEEDING down the exceptionally narrow path. Absolutely scared the shit out of my dog and nearly clipped her tail. I saw red mist. She’s a greyhound and is already a little wary of a lot of things, but I know hounds that haven’t emotionally recovered from less.
The photo of the little girl sitting up eating her cocopops with a look of shock is heartbreaking. I hope they find the little thugs and batter the shite out of them before arresting them.

I knew it was Tallaght before even opening the article. The place is fucking lawless and little cunts on quads and scramblers are out on the fuckin main roads 24/7. The garda drive around once per day and literally park up until the wee dragged up cunts fuck off in the opposite direction from them, then they start the car and drive off away again without doing a fucking tap. If I had a scrambler and was driving wrecklessly on the roads I’d have the bike taken off me, I’d get a big fine and if I did it again I’d be fucked into jail. These people don’t give a single fuck about the law and the welfare of others that use the roads and paths that they fly down on all day long on the bikes.
