K-9 finds wanted suspect in crawl space of Gaston County home after 3-hour search, police say

GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) – A K-9 found a wanted suspect in the crawl space of a home in Gaston County after a three-hour search on Sunday, according to police.

Zachary Goldston-Wynn, 29, was reportedly wanted on multiple outstanding warrants across several North Carolina counties. Those can be found near the bottom of this article.

Additionally, as a result of Sunday’s situation, Goldston-Wynn was charged with breaking & entering, resisting a public officer, child abuse, and littering.

An initial encounter between a bail bondsman and Goldston-Wynn reportedly happened on Sunday, June 29, at Lineberger Park in Gastonia.

The bondsman said that when he tried to take Goldston-Wynn into custody, he threw a child he was holding and ran away, prompting a response from police.

Police said they deployed K-9 Ozzy, and after a three-hour search that spanned four miles, Goldston-Wynn was found in the crawl space of a house under construction along West Sixth Avenue.

When repeated warnings by officers were reportedly ignored, Ozzy was let loose under the house and apprehended Goldston-Wynn.

Officers said they crawled into the confined space after Ozzy and took Goldston-Wynn into custody.
