Putin and Macron discuss Iran, Ukraine in first phone call in nearly three years • FRANCE 24

Emanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin have spoken by telephone for the first time since 2022. The number of Russian strikes on Ukraine has multiplied over the past week, especially those conducted by drone, which increased by 36.8% in June. France’s Macron called for a ceasefire as soon as possible, while Vladimir Putin on his part claimed that the war was a direct consequence of the West’s policy. But Iran was what really prompted the call between the two leaders. A topic on which it was easy for them to agree. Both leaders said that diplomacy was the only solution to the crisis in the Middle East.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a “substantial” phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on the Middle East crisis including Iran and the Ukraine conflict, the Kremlin said on Tuesday, their first such exchange since September 2022.
