Hello everyone,
I'm new to Germany and unfortunately, my German isn't that good yet. I recently took a few steps on the CHECK24 app to look at a trip to Mallorca – I didn't want to book anything. It said "Book without risk," so I thought it was just a non-binding reservation or that I could decide later.
I didn't provide any payment details (no account, no credit card), but my email, phone number, and address were saved in my profile.
Suddenly, I had a booking confirmation with a number. I was totally shocked. I immediately tried to cancel, but now they still want cancellation fees.
I've already written to CHECK24 and explained that I didn't fully understand the app – the design is very confusing for me, especially if you don't speak the language well.
Have you had similar experiences?
Do I really have to pay the cancellation fee even though I haven't actively paid anything?
Can something bad happen if I don't pay?
I'm pretty overwhelmed right now and honestly I'm really scared 😔

It says that you can cancel the hotel for free, but looks like you had flights too? That would be what the cancellations are for
Don’t click on any button on the internet that promises you something that doesn’t seem right. If you do so, you are getting trolled.
Listen to your gut about being scared.
„Booking“ concludes a contract…
You have made a legally binding travel booking, parts of which may be cancelled free of charge.
This means: if you do not pay the cancellation costs, they will collect them from you, probably (sooner or later) by debt collection.
I mean… Buchen ohne Risiko… please, there’s always a risk and this is the oldest marketing trick in the world. “Oh, don’t worry, I’ll take of you”
Besides if you do click on “buchen” or “booking” then you are entering a contract, if haven’t read the contract details that’s on you.
