Turkish authorities have arrested four staff members of a satirical magazine in Istanbul overnight, after a controversial cartoon sparked demonstrations.
Authorities claim the magazine — LeMan — published an illustration depicting the Prophet Muhammad and incited ‘public hatred’. The magazine denies the allegations.
In a separate development, dozens of people have been arrested in Istanbul, at a rally marking the 100th day since the arrest of the city’s mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, the man chosen as the opposition’s candidate for the next presidential elections.
