The United States’ decision to temporarily halt arms and ammunition supplies to Ukraine has caused concern in Kiev. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the development to German media as “very bad news.” The former world boxing champion said that military support from the United States plays a crucial role in his country’s defense capabilities.

“Every war has three important factors: financial support, the weapons you need and human resources. And we have real needs in every area,” Klitschko said. Ukraine is also defending Europe against Vladimir Putin’s imperialism. Against this background, “the news from America is very bad for us” because “many things” depend on the US, writes A2 CNN.

Klitschko is now turning his attention to Berlin. The mayor hopes for German assistance, especially in the field of air defense. He expressed his gratitude for the systems that have already been delivered by Germany. “This saves the lives of our citizens, the civilian population,” Klitschko said.

At the same time, the need remains immense. Klitschko said that just last week, Kiev was simultaneously attacked by more than 400 drones and missiles. A large number of attacks were repelled. However, there were casualties: 39 people were killed, including a child.

Given the situation, Klitschko again appealed to Germany: “And if you ask me if we need further support, I would like to say: Yes, we need further support!”

The US is reportedly halting, among other things, the delivery of Patriot missiles, which were approved by former President Biden. The Pentagon’s decision is said to be motivated by concerns about insufficient US weapons stockpiles. (A2 Television)
