  1. Helps more if you post it on r/de , since I’m sure there are more Germans/citizens there.

  2. already signed it a whiole ago, so did my husband.

  3. Im not against it but I find it odd how far all of this went considering the unlikely chance of this happening in the future even without this petition.

This is happening specifically because of the game ‘The Crew’, a racing game from Ubisoft. As all licensed racing games, the licenses eventually run out, such was the case in this game. It was an always online game and couldnt be played offline. Ofc due to licenses the game was eventually no longer sold and the game generally had no real playerbase left anymore, so they decided to shut the servers off. If its a multiplayer centered game, this wouldnt be much of an issue as it often happened in the past with no real complains. The odd thing though is that the Crew, despite being an always online title, was a game that was centered around the single player experience with the multiplayer aspect just being a nice to have. So all Ubisoft really had to do was to give it one last patch and give it an offline mode which even a scummy company like EA has done in the past with their racing games and people are rightfully angry, that a game that was centered around the single player experience can no longer be played due to Ubisoft shutting off the servers and having the questionable decision in the first place not to allow the game to be played offline.

Ubisoft deserves shit for that but I dont get the part why theres such a push to make a law for such an incredibly specific and rare case. If this applied to more than 1 game and happened more frequently, id get it but i dont get this.

Lets say this petition never happens and Ubisoft gets away with it, this will unlikely happen again anytime soon as it is such a specific issue and can be resolved with relatively little effort by the developer/publisher, as I said, not even EA does that. Theres so much effort put into this campaign, I have to wonder if people genuinely know what its actually about or if they just think it sounds good, so might as well ‘do something good’. Id rather have a specific petition to specifically ask Ubisoft to give it an offline mode rather than demand a literal law that people who are paid by our taxes spend time and effort looking at it.

  4. Ok but the pirate guy who looks like an unwanted child of a nerd told me that is shit. What now? I like to follow other people’s opinions because, you know, it’s hard to have one myself

  5. If you don’t care about video game preservation but dislike PirateSoftware you should sign it, too xD

  6. I signed it after it was explained to me that you don’t have to be an EU citizen (residency is still required) to sign it!

  7. We gained over 15000 votes since you made this post. Amazing.
