> “My first response was that they’ve brought in an Englishman. They’ve bought a white man in above me when I haven’t done anything wrong … It wasn’t said in a derogative way — it was taken out of context.”
Fuckin’ Englishmen getting jobs in England
And people wonder why so many white men are going to the far right
We cant even get jobs in England without it being seen as a problem by some people now
She doesn’t see a problem with the mere descriptive term, but had it been an white man who said they brought in an “asian woman” during a complaint I think it’d be clear to everyone what he was getting at, and no decent person would mind it being reprimanded.
Probably amongst her friends that asymmetry (racial prejudice is ok for some but not others) is acceptable and justified by tomes of “anti-racist” literature they’ve all imbibed, but to most people not steeped in those ideas it feels unfair so it doesn’t work in the wider public. (and the public feeling is probably right, it really is an unsustainable form of anti-racism, the literature justifying it is filled with myopic motivated reasoning that doesn’t account for the fact that people want to be treated in simple fair ways in their everday interactions, and if you don’t they will react badly to it.)
Worked on the new Snow White and Acolyte. Got an MBE for services to cultural and religious awareness and training and services to the vulnerable.
Reasonable minded people know that is not acceptable. Switch the races and you would be rightly sacked. It is no different just because it is a white person.
The fact they are quoted as saying “Brought in a white man above me when I haven’t done anything wrong” is pretty crystal clear. Using skin colour when it is irrelevant is not conducive to employment.
England historically is a white Angolo Saxon locale [celts, picts,Gaels pre saxon were also white wow so 😮]People really need to stop acting surprised that there are…varying shades of white all over the gaff.
In other news the sky is blue.
Unfortunately, in recent years, some ethnic minorities feel it is acceptable to openly engage in racism.
Either people (regardless of ethnic background) are too polite or too anxious about negative repercussions to challenge them, or they agree with their statments and beliefs.
We need to widen our understanding of racism, what it is, and how it emerges because we are biological and social beings who all have the capacity to engage in racism.
I’ve also worked with many ethnic minority colleagues who have said outrageously racist things about white people. It makes the work environment feel much more hostile, so I suspect it the right decision to fire her.
Well, yeah. Don’t make racist remarks and you won’t get fired.
I work in the film industry and this stuff is rife. Since Covid allowed tens of thousands of inexperienced crew into senior positions or people were fast tracked through diversity schemes the industry has went to the dogs. It’s pretty routine now if you question being offered a low rate you will never work again because they can hire someone who claims to be non-binary and has 3 weeks of experience and they’ll hire them into a senior role while paying them less than minimum wage. Crew with decades of experience are being targeted to force them to leave men, woman, gay, straight it doesn’t matter if your not part of the club and will work multiple jobs for peanuts and put up with having to take part of trans diversity unpaid training days then your out the industry. People straight up brag that they aren’t trained and have never been on a set yet get heads of department roles because they know how to play the system and they are usually university educated middle class entitled kids.
So
She.
The head of h&s brought it up in multiple meetings that the scaffolding didnt have tickets and the forklifts needed a service. So she done nothing about this and complained when they brought someone in.
She is a feelings over facts twat .
I feel like I have been physically abused, wow, what a way to insult actual victims.
If her claims are correct that she raised legitimate safety issues and had them dismissed, that’s important and I hope the company sees consequences for that that ensure safety is taken seriously in the future.
Separately, “They’re punishing me by giving me a white male boss”, which is my reading of “even though I didn’t do anything wrong”, is hilarious.
Both of the “twins” had the exact same hair, of course they cut corners on safety.
She’s 100% the kind of person who’s like “I don’t want to end oppression, I want to be the oppressor.”
So she was sacked for gross misconduct. The gross misconduct being racism towards her manager?
She is claiming that the company purposely hired a white person to be her manager, as a direct result of her raising concerns about safety.
Her concerns may be valid. I don’t see how hiring a new manager of a different race would force her to be racist.
For any Star Wars fans, one of the people working for the production company is named Katherine Tauntaun 😂
I’ve not heard this story before. Is this yet another person crying racism because that’s the immediate go to if you’re not white and not capable of doing the job you’re meant to be doing?
Women want equality until it involves being held accountable for their behaviour. Then it’s someone else’s fault..
Wish we could go back to a time when people took responsibility for the dumb shit they say..
