Natural gas leak forces Wilkes-Barre officials to shut power, urge public to avoid area

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — The City of Wilkes-Barre’s Mayor’s Office is urging everyone to avoid the West Market Street area of Public Square.

UGI and PPL are currently working together to resolve a natural gas leak.

Power has been shut off around Public Square as the problem is addressed.

UGI is working to resolve the issue, but an estimated time of complete restoration is not available at this time.
