YEAH, ADDIE AUTOS IN MANHEIM SAID THEY HAD HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF CARS RIGHT HERE IN THIS LOT. AND NOW FOUR OF THEM. TWO OF THEM RIGHT HERE BESIDE ME, ARE COMPLETELY UNDRIVABLE. NOW, IF YOU TAKE A LOOK OVER HERE, WE CAN SEE THESE PINK X’S ON THE CAR. THAT MEANS THEY’RE TOTALED AND THAT THEY’RE UNUSABLE. AND NOBODY CAN DRIVE THEM ANYMORE, BECAUSE AT ONE POINT IN TIME, THE WATER IN THIS CAR WAS UP TO THEIR SHOULDERS. I LOST MY FORESTER. NEIGHBORS WERE HELPING NEIGHBORS. FOLKS WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW. EVERYBODY PULLED TOGETHER. THE COMMUNITY OF MANHEIM BOROUGH CAME TOGETHER TO HELP AID AUTOS. AS WATER RUSHED INTO THEIR CARS, SHOP AND OFFICE. GOT THE CALL FROM SOME OF OUR FRIENDS THAT THE WATER WAS RISING. AND IT WAS. IT CAME UP SO FAST. WE CAME BACK AND YOU KNOW, WE WERE WAIST DEEP IN WATER DOWN IN THE BACK LOT AND HAD TO MOVE UP ALL THE INVENTORY TO THE HIGH GROUND. CARS WERE MOVED FROM THEIR BACK LOT TO THE FRONT LOT, BUT FOR AT LEAST FOUR CARS IT WAS TOO LATE. WE WERE SITTING DOWN IN SOME OF THE VEHICLES. WE WERE UP TO OUR SHOULDERS, UP TO WATER, SITTING IN SOME OF OUR PERSONAL VEHICLES, GETTING THEM OUT. NOW THOSE CARS ARE RUINED AND THEIR BUSINESS IS IN NEED OF REPAIR, A FEELING THEY KNOW ALL TOO WELL. 2011 THERE WAS A HORRIFIC ONE WHERE THE WATER HAD COME UP TO THE HEIGHT OF THE DESKS IN THE OFFICE, SO, YOU KNOW, SEVERE PROBLEM. THE CLEANUP NOW CONTINUES AS THEY PICK UP THE PIECES AND GET THE BUSINESS UP AND RUNNING LIKE USUAL. NO SLEEP. WE HAVEN’T SLEPT. YEAH, WE HAVEN’T SLEPT. WE’VE BEEN UP TRYING TO GET OUR SHOP READY. I MEAN, THIS IS HOW WE FEED OUR FAMILY. WE CAN’T SIT AROUND AND JUST HOPE THAT SOMEBODY COMES AND HELPS US. YOU KNOW? WE GOT TO TAKE ACTION. WE GOT MOUTHS TO FEED. THE EMPLOYEES WANT TO THANK EVERY NEIGHBOR THAT CAME OUT TO HELP THEM. AND THEIR HOPE IS THAT THE BOROUGH WILL SOON HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS ONGOING ISSUE OF FLOODING IN MANHEIM BOROUGH, LANCASTER COUNTY.
