Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.”
Earlier this week, a British tourist was reported missing after the rental car he had hired was found abandoned in Karpathos.
Police say the 60-year-old man has not returned to his rented accommodation and a search and rescue operation has been launched.
According to local media, his hire car was discovered locked in the Korfasia area of Avlonas, which is close to the more popular holiday island of Rhodes.
The man was last seen by the owner of the holiday accommodation on Friday, June 27, according to a police source.
Members of the coast guard, as well as police and firefighters, have joined the manhunt.
