The tech industry creates the illusion that a hard-working genius can succeed like him. Maybe that’s true sometimes, but no knowledge, discovery, or skill justifies such a disproportionate amount of money. They keep living in magical thinking and are turning the world into a tech dystopia.

If the argument here is that a genius shouldn’t be paid as much as a guy who’s really good at kicking a ball… i’m not sure I’m on board with that.
CR7 transfer happened in 2009. So in today’s numbers it would be €135 mil or $145 mil depending on where you are calculating inflation for. But still it’s an insane number anything above 100 mil for a person.
Also that $80 mil was paid to Manchester United, while I doubt OpenAI sees any of that 100 mil signing bonus unless they have good non compete and NDA.

Ronaldo’s value has also been inflated. With the new deal, he is earning $350m per year at the age of 40.

and to think back in ancient times the very idea of a nerdy bookworm no one’s head about earning more than a talented, athletic and entertaining heartthrob would be the very least laughable… crazy time indeed
