Maxim was only 31. On the night of June 29, he destroyed 7 air targets. His airplane was damaged, but he tried to the last to hold the machine and steer it away from a populated area. He did not have time to eject. He died as a hero. Today his relatives, colleagues, commanders, and Ukrainians who owed him their lives bowed their heads in sorrow.
