I’m no fan of Ryan Tubridy, but she really took that question the wrong way. I fail to see how it’s mysoginistic.
The question was “Can I ask you how old you are?”
She responds by saying she’s “117” and asserts it’s “quite misogynistic” because “men don’t get the same scrutiny in their career.”
Ryan says he would have asked a male actor the same, and she says “you say that now, there’s nobody here…”
He asserts that his line of questioning was the fact that she plays a teenager on the show, and he was aiming to compliment how well she does it.
I actually don’t know what age O’Donnell is – her Wiki page doesn’t have an age, DOB nor age range.
Everybody’s offended by something I guess.
Might be a boring question but a 30 year old man playing a teenager would be asked about it all the time
Overreaction on her part but its funny seeing how she makes Tubridy squirm.
Pointless question but she really sounds absolutely insufferable

It’s not really a pointless question; age can reveal a lot about somebody and give a reference point. The questions to an actor will be very different if they are 17 and the success of the show has come to them in their teens or if it’s been a long process to achieve mainstream acclaim.
This sort of shite exposes the bullshit that comes out of people like this actor who share her views on the world. Nonsense way of interacting and enraging with people and the worst thing is people actually facilitate it.
Probably didn’t do herself any favours taking him up wrongly. She’s there to promote a show that’s a comedy,
She’s playing a feckin schoolgirl so the question was relevant.
People can’t ask anything these days without being offended or without there being a woke undercurrent as a narrative
She’s 30…
It’s a weird way to go about asking the question/giving the compliment like he could’ve just said “how is it playing a teenager when you’re obviously not a teenager yourself” or something idk but she also could’ve waited to see where he was going with the question before she brought up misogyny, a simple “why?” would’ve been grand lol
She’s 30 years old. Took 2 seconds to Google it. What a stupid reaction to such a simple question.
Ridiculous. She’s an adult playing a schoolgirl, perfectly reasonable question. He’d have asked the guy who plays James the same question.
I can’t stand Tubs but for once I’m on his side. She got the wrong end of the stick and his explanation was valid. Asking her age in relation to her role playing a much younger character is not problematic at all
Cancel Tubs and Close the Pubs!
She’s a teenager in a 30 year old body playing a teenager.
I’m not always his biggest fan… But I just don’t understand why someone is offended by such an arbitrary question 🤷♂️
Seems weird to be offended by a question like that. I find that an actor playing a child while they are so much older than that child’s age is naturally going to attract some curiosity as to how they manage it and the same is true for both men and women.
She doesn’t really come out of that looking good IMO.
Remember when he asked jacksepticeye how much he makes ? And then also had a young fan planted in the audience to ask the same thing?
I remember
God people get offended so fecking easy these days. Everyone needs to lighten up a little , have a laugh and stop being so uptight.
What part of this is misogynistic?
>”This might be a rude question, you don’t have to answer,” he said. “But can I ask you how old you are?”
Jamie Lee O’Donnell then gave a sarcastic answer.
>However, Ryan (48) pursued the question, asking, “Would you consider telling me what age you are?”
So, he knew it was a rude question, and he lied about her not having to answer.
He could have asked a question about she found portraying a schoolgirl as an adult, or anything really – instead he picked a question he knew was potentially offensive and insisted on pursuing it. Her specific age is irrelevant, that she was an adult playing a teenage schoolgirl was.
Yet this thread is full of people defending him 🙄 His job is to be a good interviewer. This is him failing at his job.
State of her.
How the fuck is asking someone their age misogynistic? We have turned in to a nation of Americanised soft cunts.
She has spent too much time on Twitter
Let’s be honest here, she bloody embarrassed herself there.
Her age is clearly related to the character she plays, it’s not pulled out of the air. Like asking a guy who plays a strong character how much he worked out for the role. Same thing, stereotype of men being big and strong. What’s her problem? Jesus. Get over yourself love.
Fair enough people can question whether they think the orig question was misogynistic in nature or not, but ‘I can sense a mood when I see one’ from him in the aftermath absolutely, unequivocally was.
This is our chance! Cancel tubs!
People looking for reasons to be offended a lot these days.
Another Saturday morning, another artefact in the Tubridy museum of mortification.
Lotta people here really don’t appreciate the “assumed best before date” of female actors.
Have you not seen him interview Pussy Riot?! Now that’s a bad interview. The man has Alan Partridge levels of shite inept form
Take my age age out of your f***ing mouth
She’s after making a right clown of herself.
>misogynist: strongly prejudiced against women.
Yes, I’m sure Tubridy asked this out of his inherent hatred towards the opposite sex.
Good god has this word become overused.
Her reaction was kinda embarrassing and very over dramatic that’s actors for ya.
The irony is that men in Hollywood get absolutely **trounced** with sexism, but it goes almost completely unnoticed or is rarely discussed. In this clip, I see a woman attempting to be a champion of women’s rights, but she just comes off as kinda dickish. *For the record, I love the show, and she might be my favourite character. I also thought the rest of the interview was fairly interesting and she was mostly likable.* But let’s dig into the double standard here…
Discussing the ages of men? Ask Luke Perry, who got roasted in the 90’s for 90210. Ask George Clooney, who has to talk about his age in every goddamned interview he’s done since he turned 50. Ask Pharrell Williams. Ask Keanu Reeves. Ask Rob Lowe.
Discussing looks instead of talent? Ask Brad Pitt, who had to discuss his abs for 3 straight years after Fight Club rather than discussing his incredible performance. Ask Viggo Mortensen, who answered 1,000 questions about the naked fight scene in Eastern Promises, but was rarely asked about his process or how he studied for the role. Ask Henry Caville or Daniel Craig about *literally every fucking interview they’ve ever done, ever.*
Discussing how men should be tall? Ask Tom Cruise, Martin Freeman, Kevin Hart, or Daniel Radcliffe.
Discussing how men should be attractive? Ask Willem Defoe, or Ron Pearlman, or Jon C. Reilly, or Steve Buscemi.
Discussing how men should “look manly”? Ask Robert Pattinson, who had to beef up for Batman. Ask Chris Pratt, who had to beef up for Guardians of the Galaxy. Ask Zack Effron, who’s gone on record saying he never wants abs again, because his life was miserable. Ask Chris Hemsworth, who suffered leg spasms and horrible cramping from the awful diet and supliments he was on during all the MCU movies.
I hope I don’t get killed by downvotes here. I’m just pointing out that there are times to cry misogyny. Anything related to Hollywood is **not** one of those times. Jamie-Lee should have just answered the question. Tubbs didn’t do himself any favours by pushing so hard, but let’s face it, he shouldn’t have had to push so hard at all. It was a simple, reasonable, and relevant question for a 30-year-old playing a 16-year-old.
Does she not realise it says her fucking age online? Jesus wept, people gurn over nothing these days.
I think she came off badly here. When he said I hope to cause no offence was due to the fact some people are sensitive about their age being a point of conversation but If I can wiki her age I don’t see how she can take offence. Absolutely just looking to make a headline
She is35. Not 30
Edit: I know it says 30 online but she is one hundred percent 35
I don’t like him, but no it wasn’t.
Misogyny is wildly prevalent everywhere. But that question wasn’t. If everything is misogynistic then nothing is. Asking an adult their age in relation to them playing a much younger person on a very popular tv show would be perfectly acceptable in my view. Grandstanding on the telly.
