The reason Labour didn’t beat Boris thinks he has a chance to win an election with a new party.
I hope he does and if it performs dreadfully in an election maybe people will stop saying how popular him and his ideas are with the electorate.
> Corbyn said any new party would focus on poverty, inequality and a foreign policy “that’s based on peace rather than war”.
Im somewhere to the left of Labour but this is why it will fail. What about the current geopolitical situation tells us that talking it out stops war.? It hasnt worked in Ukraine, it hasnt worked in Gaza and it hasnt worked with Iran
Good luck to them I guess. If they manage not to tear themselves apart just choosing a name for the party i’ll pay attention
Look, as someone who supports Corbyn for years now, this isn’t going to work. He is fucking 76 years old. Some of the Independents that he works with are much closer to the Galloway lot than the socialists Corbyn has come to represent. Most of them voted against decriminalisation of abortion FFS!
These independents function much better as independents, local voices for local communities in Parliament. The moment they get into a larger national political project they lose that. Corbyn needs to find a way to work with the younger Labour or ex-Labour left-wing lot, like Zarah Sultana, Clive Lewis, Apsana Begum, raise their national profile and let them lead the socialist project after his time has passed.
I voted for Corbyn, but he’s yesterday’s man. This is a farce and a waste of time.
I can already see this thread will have very normal responses.
That’s what we need is more splits on the left. Perhaps we can make a people’s front of Labour?
Isn’t the Monster Raving Looney Party already a thing?
Exactly what we need, more left wing factions to dilute the left wing vote, meaning beating the right wing parties gets harder and harder.
Even when Reform popped up, the right was still united enough that they seem to have taken most of the Conservative base and even gained some, this doesn’t and never will happen on the left.
To be fair it would be nice to see a left wing party.
Also nice to see people talking about this as though Corbyn is the soviet union. “Ideological purity”. Catch yourselves on lmao, everyone wants to see politicians represent them but for some reason when it’s left wing people they talk about it like Corbyn is Beria or like purges ever happen.
If anything, it was the centre/right of Labour that went for ideological purity and did the purging, but people have memory holed that already.
I hope he does to be honest I hardly agree with him on much but he’s a dedicated guy and can see what he stands for. Competition is nearly always good as well.
Decent idea as something to put some leftward pressure on Labour, but Corbyn is the wrong leader. The UK left needs someone younger and more charismatic and inspiring, like a British version of the US politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, to be the face of their movement. (Plus, Corbyn’s position on Ukraine will be [rightfully] repulsive to a lot of voters who might otherwise be on board.)
I was fully expecting a lot of the comments to be a variation of “leftists are obligated to vote for the Labour Party, so they should shut up and do so” and I was not wrong.
Alright domestic policies but terrible foreign policies.
The more options to choose in our democracy the better!
I’d like to see more genuine opposition against the current parties. I may not swing that hard left, but a keeping leaders honest is the point of an opposition. However, isn’t this guy a career back bencher? What would make him a good leader? Like I never found him particularly good at leading when voted leader of labour.
He’s popular with a small section of yoghurt knitting pseudo communists. Good luck.
The “Free Palestine and obsess about Jews Party” their motto “see no Hamas, hear no Hamas, speak no Hamas”
An alternative to Labour would be welcome but it would also fracture the left a little bit more, which is the last thing I want considering how unified the racist right are
Bleeh, makes sense, new Labour completely ignores it’s left wing voices
Corbyn of “Ukraine should lie down and let Russia invade” fame wants to create a party that has a focus on foreign policy.
Good riddance, please take Abbott and co with you.
Hints at? Unless he actively confirms it, he won’t do any such thing.
Every time Labour shit the bed, one of these stories about Corbyn “hinting” at creating a new left wing party appears across news sites. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve seen since 2020.
Labour have just seen the biggest first-year poll drop a for governing party since the early 90s; they’ve had a battering over their planned cuts to benefits in parliament; and they’ve been humiliated by a bunch of artists at Glasto getting tens of thousands of punters to chant about them being war criminals.
Obviously, McSweeney has been straight onto his mates in the media and got them to batter the old big red “CORBYN” button, which will get the centrists frothing and feeling vindicated for a few days before Labour shit the bed again over some other easily avoided calamity.

The media destroyed Corbyn because he went against the agenda.
Was a total character assassination back then by the media as a whole.
lol at the labour apparatchiks already lining up to blame Corbyn for when they inevitably get spanked at the next election.
I’m not particularly a fan of Corbyn but this country needs some alternatives to the mountain of shit we’ve been dealing with for decades, and Reform aren’t it.
To be honest, more parties is in no way a bad thing. I would be happy to have a proper left wing party to vote for.
