I love how these sorts of articles always leave ‘local councillor’ or ‘local candidate’ out of the headline. They know people will assume this is someone important like a prospective MP or a key party figure.
It might also be my confirmation bias here, but I swear we hear far more about Labour candidates in these situations than Tory, and again it’s always ‘candidate or member’ or ‘Labour Leader’ if it’s talking about a Lead Councillor etc.
It probably happens to both parties to be fair, but it is slightly misleading either way.
To be fair, is it (especially by today’s standards) even that hyperbolic to call someone a fascist when they’ve banned a string of left wing parties, closed down opposition-owned TV channels, imprisoned opposition leaders, and venerated Nazi collaborators?
I don’t know about the Zionism thing but he did also recently say he wants Ukraine to emulate Israel.
Just because he’s on ‘our side’ doesn’t make him a Saint.
