  1. Yesterday an Italian motorcyclist was killed by a bear on the Transfagarasan road in Romania. According to reports the motorcyclist stopped to feed a bear with 2 cubs. Unfortunately the bears hang out more and more near the road since they got used to being fed by tourists. Every year there are stories of people being attacked by bears they tried to fed. If you visit Romania please don’t feed the bears and don’t leave your car to take photos.

  23. Situation with bears in Romania has become very bad, mainly because half of all the people transiting the area (mostly my fellow Romanians but also lots of foreigners) feed the bears, usually from the safety of their cars. This has attracted more and more bears, together with habitat loss.

  26. No, he was not killed by a bear. He left three cubs motherless because he provoked the female bear who, being a wild animal, attacked. Basically this guy committed murder suicide, killed himself and the female bear. I am Romanian, I hate it that there are so many bears around where I live and if I hear a funny sound in the forest, guess what I do? Walk the fuck out of there asap. You DO NOT want to see a bear live, believe me.

  27. A moron that died for a couple of pictures with a bear.The comfort and safety of modern life has made people dumb, very dumb.I mean our ancestors had the common sense of staying away from that kind of wildlife.

  31. yeah, well deserved. i don’t mean to celebrate on a random guy’s death, but what did he expect? he approached a WILD ANIMAL 5 times his weight, power and speed which was also with its cubs. i hate tourists that have never gone outside of cities and don’t have any common sense whatsoever. from my pov, as a person who lives near the Transfagarasan Road, people like this deserve what they get.

    Me, looking at picture: oof, he is standing and bear has cubs, that’s explains this. Maybe cycle was broken down and he had nowhere to escape, and took that picture so others would know what happened to him.

    I had to walk recently 2 kms through woods in late evening, saw fresh muddy bear footprints on asphalt, and were terrified of that. It was in the middle of nowhere and I had 1 more km to go. Almost turned religious on that night. And then there is a tourist, stopping to feed bear with cubs!
