There’s no consequences any more for this sort of insidious crime which is destroying communities.
The absolute worst thing that will happen to them is they’ll be referred to the garda youth diversion programme. In practice, this means that they might one day receive a telephone call.
There will be no financial consequences for them or their parents, they will not spend even ten minutes in a cell, and they won’t be banned from the area or put on a curfew.
So that’s why it keeps happening.
It’s called “Irish justice system”. Welcome
I’m from Dublin, but live in Perth a long time now. One of the things that always seems shocking to me is the playgrounds here… They are always in great condition – no graffiti, vandalism. No empty bottles, smoke butts and smell of piss. It’s sad that it isn’t that way in Ireland.
These types of events have been going on for years; there is rarely any consequences for the scum kids of scum adults
Nail some sense into them!
“For the craic”
Everyone loves a moan that the world’s gone to the dogs, but I remember a playground in a village in rural mid-Ulster near where I grew up burnt out in the late ’80s and covered in UVF graffiti.
Ireland, to put it simply, hasn’t grown up yet. We love being in the EU coz it helped us bypass the need to stand on our own two feet (by creating our own viable economy) We hide in its shadow. The effect is a crass childish nation whose people by and large act like children. ‘Ah sure it’ll be grand’ is our national anthem. Feckless gobshites is what we are.
