    But I also think she’s not exactly wrong.

  3. Ya. No way in God’s green fuck am I going to America for anything. I applied for a visa like 15 years ago and was denied (company messed up the paperwork). I was flagged for 5 years crossing the border because of it, dragged into secondary, questioned (usually berated) and released after anywhere between 10 minutes and two hours. I’m certain when they widen their net, I’d be at the very least detained, if not worse.

  5. You can’t exactly feel comfortable going to the Olympics or the World Cup with everything going on right now. I know it’ll would take something extraordinary for either to be canceled. At least remain vigilant at all times. Who knows what could happen on any given day.

    Do NOT travel to the US. It is NOT safe. The World Cup, the Olympics, and many other international sporting and entertainment events need to be 100% boycotted.

  14. Sorry but I’m LMAO at people thinking the Olympics are even considering to think about maybe discussing the remote possibility of canceling or relocating. The Olympics were held in Berlin in 1936 and Russia in 1980. 

    The IOC is historically one of the most corrupt and morally bankrupt organizations in the history of the world. They DGAF.

    Same goes for the World Cup, which just held its last event in Qatar (not a beacon of civil rights) in stadiums built by literal slave labor.

  25. I’m hoping no one comes for the Olympics or the World Cup. Just fucking say hell no. Get together like kids on a court and play your games somewhere far away, with US not fucking invited.

  27. Things are going to get much worse in the US before they get better. As aggressively fascist as the Republicans have proven themselves to be, the Democrats are going to have to push back even harder to stem the tide. We can’t keep passively hoping these people will eventually wake up one day and decide to suddenly be decent humans.

  30. We have been saying this in Canada for months now. Patricia saying isn’t surprising. What is surprising is that there are not a lot more people saying it inside the USA because it is transparently clear the US is closed due to Federal government policies which are rapidly getting worse to everyone else.

  31. I agree with the sentiment and acknowledge that things are bad right now but if we can have the olympics in Beijing, we’ll be alright hosting it in the US.

  34. Yep. Here in Oklahoma we’re supposed to have aquatic events and they spent money on it thinking tourist dollars will be coming in. I doubt we will see much of that. 

    Several teams have been denied visas and can’t play here. And even if they lifted it and said it’s fine to come. We won’t ’detain’ you, who in their right mind would risk it?  

    It’d be better if some other country stepped in and offered to host bc the US is an unsafe country for foreigners as well as their own citizens.
