  3. You know the USA could get those metals for free if they were the fourth territory, but otherwise they’re going to need to pay.

  6. I talk a lot about Trump ceding world power to China, but this is another case of Canada becoming greater due to Trump’s incompetence.

    Sure would be nice to have some of this global winning inside the US instead of L after L after L.

  11. They didn’t award anything to “Canada”, they gave a permit to a mining company based in Canada, which the country has a lot of because of very favorable financial rules for the sector and a high degree of protection against international lawsuit.

I enjoy how all the comments are about Trump when the company awarded this permit (Greenland Resources, Inc.) is basically a quasi-SOE joint venture between Canada and the EU started years ago *specifically* to mine molybdenum at this deposit in Greenland… Neither the company nor the permit have anything at all to do with Trump and were both years in the making.

  21. This is silly. There are no defense industry manufacturers in Canada outside of US owned companies and tiny companies who only make unrelated components like landing gear.

    All of this will get funneled to the US. Literally all of it.

    Greenland is an autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark.

  33. For those saying Canada is becoming better, remember that they have a decently popular conservative movement. Their mainstream conservatives may not be as extreme as U.S. conservatives now, but give them time and leniency and they will reach MAGA levels. If anything, they are like the U.S. during the Obama/Tea Party years.
