If the police were competent, Johnson would be investigated for the serious crimes of Misconduct in Public Office and/or Fraud by Abuse of Position. I have little doubt that there is ample evidence to satisfy all elements of both offences.
It absolutely burns my butt that he will get away with all this by hanging onto the coat tails of Zelensky’s popularity and taking all the credit for the good that the UK is doing to support Ukraine and getting his lap dogs to keep chanting the mantra that he is getting the job done and it would make no sense to remove him now at this time of world crisis.
Make no mistake it is us the British taxpayers who are supporting Ukraine and I am proud to do so. It’s going to cost us all to pay for this war but will it hurt the rich, many of whom have vested interests in the oil and arms industry?

Gentle reminder that only tactical voting can dislodge the Tories at the next election. That’s the nature of the FPTP system.

Will we see a non-Tory government in my lifetime? Conservatism at it’s root is “rejection of change”, so how do you change the minds of voters who think that way? There is not an industry in the world where this kind of mindset brings success, growth or the capacity to adapt to new circumstances. So why is it so popular in politics? The only thing it does successfully is in keeping a specific group of people in power as long as possible, while in the meantime making a mockery of whatever genuine values us regular folk aspire to.

The parties and the fine (and maybe more fines when all is done) are NOT the unequivocal resigning offence.
The resigning offence is the clear attempt to mislead Parliament and the British people. This is very clearly covered by both convention *and* the ministerial code. I don’t care which party you’re from, this is a matter of honesty and values.
