I would have hoped his kids would speak exactly like Pig & Runt from Disco Pigs.
This happens.
Their kids start basically ordering them around in those accents and I guess it begins grating on a deep rooted part of the Irish psyche….I can’t imagine why!

The one “English” (Irish parents moved back to Ireland when he was about 14) lad in my school got bullied mercilessly in history class. We’d drag him under the desks and hold him there, the teacher was older and oblivious to what was going on in his classroom.

Same thing happened with siobhan mcsweeney on the off menu podcast last week.
My friend moved the entire family back to Glasgow when his child called him “daddy” in a South coast English accent.
I was born in Birmingham to an Irish mother and Brummy father, she raced to get me back as soon as possible and I am grateful every day

I moved out of westmeath, cause my kids got intolerable Dublin accents….
Having more kids probably wont even fix this, the damage is already done. Well unless you want to take drastic measures and start over from scratch, but that will be a hard sell for your wife.
