Cillian Murphy: I moved back to Ireland because my kids had very posh English accents

  1. And now his kids have a very South County Dublin accent.
I pass his house every day dropping my kids off to school.
Himself , Lorraine Keane and Blathnaid Ni Coffee are all neighbours

  2. This happens.

Their kids start basically ordering them around in those accents and I guess it begins grating on a deep rooted part of the Irish psyche….I can’t imagine why!

    It is hilariously ironic though!

  3. I can see where he is coming from and I dont even dislike English accents. It is just not my peoples accent

  4. Did he want his kids to get bullied?

The one “English” (Irish parents moved back to Ireland when he was about 14) lad in my school got bullied mercilessly in history class. We’d drag him under the desks and hold him there, the teacher was older and oblivious to what was going on in his classroom.

  5. Does the examiner just have someone who full time listens to every podcast with someone Irish on it so they can shit out an article?

Same thing happened with siobhan mcsweeney on the off menu podcast last week.

  6. My friend moved the entire family back to Glasgow when his child called him “daddy” in a South coast English accent.

  7. I was born in Birmingham to an Irish mother and Brummy father, she raced to get me back as soon as possible and I am grateful every day

  8. Cringe. Only British people can be affluent and speak with erudite accents; we’re all salt of the earth ORISIH with no airs or graces not even Mr. Cillian Murphy

  9. Having more kids probably wont even fix this, the damage is already done. Well unless you want to take drastic measures and start over from scratch, but that will be a hard sell for your wife.
