The New Zealand All Blacks and France Rugby will open their 2025 test campaigns on July 5 at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:05 a.m. ET, with live coverage in the United States available on FloRugby and the FloSports app beginning at 2:55 a.m. ET.

France has named five uncapped players in its starting XV, including fly-half Joris Segonds, wing Tom Spring, and back row Alexandre Fischer. The team will be without Antoine Dupont, who continues to recover from a knee injury sustained during the Six Nations. Fabien Galthie’s selection mixes veterans like Gaël Fickou with newcomers across the forward pack and backline.

In contrast, the All Blacks have opted for experience in Scott Robertson’s first official match as head coach. Beauden, Jordie and Scott Barrett all start, joined by Ardie Savea, Rieko Ioane, and Will Jordan. Damian McKenzie is named among the reserves.

France has had the All Blacks number for several years now. New Zealand enters the series having lost the last three matches since 2021. The last All Blacks win was in 2018 at Dunedin, where the first match this year will be played.

— All Blacks (@AllBlacks) July 4, 2025Why Ardie Savea Is The Best Rugby Player In The World In 2025

For nearly a year– since the first list published in 2024— FloRugby writer Philip Bendon painstakingly poured over the tape to compile the top players throughout the globe.

And at the end of the day, he couldn’t put anyone ahead of New Zealand All Blacks star Ardie Savea, the 2023 World Rugby Player of the Year who begins his international season on July 5 against France.

“As ever when selecting a player list, a level of subjectivity factors in,” Bendon said. “Now thirteen years into his professional career, Ardie Savea is at a level of influence on a par with the great Richie McCaw.”
