  1. Bah. This article distinguishes between what may or may not be a criminal bribe and how it would be difficult to prove in court.

    Nobody believes that either Trump or Paramount will be criminally charged. Trump probably couldn’t even be criminally charged even if he unequivocally stated that there’s a connection between the settlement and the merger proceeding without government interference.

    Maybe it has a different label, but there’s a zero % chance that Paramount settled because they thought that they’d lose, or that it would be more costly to fight it.

    They may not have insisted on a quid pro quo, but they sure as hell expect it.
