  1. “Tánaiste Simon Harris has described as “legal and ethical” the €800,000 in expenses claimed by Fine Gael’s Mairead McGuinness for a space she owns, adjacent to her home near Navan, Co Meath”

It’s one big club and you ain’t in it.

  2. €800,000 divided by 16 years is €50,000 per year.
    This is a non story.

  3. Legal because they make the rules, ethical because they don’t have any morals.

Edit: blueshirts are up early it seems

  4. Oooh Fine Gael, say no more, 100% unethical. The moment FG start having morals or any kind is the moment I believe anything they say

  5. Yeah the thing to take from this is the fact there robbing us in front of our eyes ans nothing we can do about it.

Years ago ya had to work to screw us. There was an honest respect for the like of Bertie doing it in the dark. Now they just do it out in the open and are like fuck u to all of us .

    No honour in it anymore

  6. She claimed the money for a property she and her husband own, that’s the big story for me. Pigs in a trough.

  7. 800k over 16 years to fund an office and a secretary ( and the associated costs ) yeah this is a non issue

  8. Everyone complaining about this should look at how much Paul Murphy and ming Flanagan have claimed in expenses in their time as MEPs.

    Everyone does this.

  9. Doublespeak for taking the piss but within the parameters.

  10. She also voted to not assist illegal migrants who get in danger whilst travelling by sea in the EU. That’s despicable. Voting to allow someone to die.

  11. Well done voting these corrupt scoundrels back in. They’re once again making fools of us.

  12. €4950 per month for rent of a small office located beside her family home near Navan seems excessive. I wonder how they valued that rent, was it valued independently by an auctioneer? 800k over 16 years I heard.

  13. The payments are ” legal and ethical” – I presume they are legal – in line with regulations

The only way they could also be “ethical” is if they are a genuine reimbursement of actual expenses incurred and not a form of personal enrichment through untaxed additional income masquerading as expenses

  14. And Simon says this is “legal and ethical”. This country is so fucking broken

  15. So the article mainly waffles on about Gaza. This I miss the bit when it says it was owned by her husband??
