Shafaq News – Tehran

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday
released video footage showing that Israel struck Evin Prison in northern
Tehran during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June 2025, killing 79
people.

The footage, published more than a week
after the attack, shows the prison’s medical unit being hit during visiting
hours. According to the ministry, the victims included staff, detainees’ family
members, and civilians near the site.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil
Baqaei described the strike as “one of the most appalling war crimes,” and
called for international condemnation of what he called “blatant violations of
international humanitarian law.”

The New York-based Center for Human Rights
in Iran also condemned the strike, saying Israel “failed to distinguish between
civilian and military targets.”

Israel has not officially responded to the
footage. However, at the time of the bombing, its Defense Ministry had vowed to
strike “regime sites and government repression bodies in the heart of Tehran.”
