Items have been pulled from supermarket shelves due to concerns over potential health risks. This week, Tesco, Aldi and Sainsbury’s have all issued product recalls.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) releases alerts to keep the public informed about possible recalls and offers guidance on what steps to take if you’ve purchased a product that’s affected.
When a food item is deemed unfit for sale, it may be withdrawn from the market. The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to alert both consumers and local authorities about food-related concerns.
In some instances, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is circulated, directing local authorities on specific actions needed to protect consumers. Customers who have bought a recalled product are usually advised to return it to the store for a full refund and are warned, “Do not consume” the item.
