Texas flash flood kills 24, search continues for missing summer camp girls • FRANCE 24 English

A frantic rescue in the town of Kerryville as this helicopter hoists a resident to safety from raging floodwaters. It’s the only option when roads look like this. Months worth of rain slammed into central Texas in just hours. A deadly deluge that claimed multiple lives. Flood waters swept away this man’s trailer home. Uh, it floated down the river maybe 80 yards and these two trees it just lodged in between two trees. So, it’s not going anywhere anymore. So, I did some salvage on it. I went in and got all my stuff that I needed that was very valuable. I got all that stuff out. So, the heavy floods caught people here off guard, striking before dawn Friday with no warning. Many remain unaccounted for, including at least 20 girls missing from a camp along the Guadalupe River, which rose to historic levels. Mystic is a camp that has over 750 kids. Right now, there are 20ome that aren’t accounted for. That does not mean they’ve been lost. They could be in a tree. They could be out of communication. Um, we’re praying for all of those missing to be found alive.
Nine rescue teams, 14 helicopters, and 12 drones are now scouring the area for the missing girls. Friday was meant to be a day of celebration with Fourth of July festivities planned nationwide. Instead, in this region, it was a day marked by chaos and tragedy.
