Hello.
I have some genereal questions about traveling and how the situation is in Cyprus right now. Hope some of you guys can help me out. I do not wish to start a Covid/Vaccine discussion here.
Me and my GF is travelling to Ayia Napa in late April.
We hold a valid covid recovery certificate, which is in EU valid to middle of May (180 days from recovery). None of us are vaccinated.
My understanding was that having gone through the disease would be enough for this trip, but turns out the recovery-time was recently changed from 180 days to 90 days in Cyprus. This regarding the safe-pass.
Coronavirus: Recovery certificate now only valid 90 days within Cyprus
What mixed everything up for me, is that the arrival and entry requirements for Cyprus is still 180 days recovery. But recovery regarding the safepass is much more strict now, 90 days. Got suprised that the date suddenly was cut in half, but I agree I could have done more research before arranging. Challanges following a decent deal on the tickets.
Now it seems like we have to get tested every other day, which can be expensive and ruin a bit of the holiday.
So my question to you is. How seriously is this safepass practiced in Cyprus? Thinking of Beaches, restaurants, bars.
How easily can the testing be done on the island? Is this expensive?
And most important, if you were in our situation, is all this worth the hassle?
Wondering about cancelling the trip or not. Thanks a lot in advance!

As far as I’ve seen the safepass is checked almost everywhere, especially restaurants and bars. A rapid test you can find for €3 in most places. Labs and pharmacies that do them are scattered all over so it won’t be a problem finding them. You won’t need any safepass for outside areas like beach etc.
The recovery certificate does only last 3 months here.
Hopefully by the time you come most of these restrictions will be gone. You don’t need a safepass in small shops and supermarkets as of today, so hopefully come April we will have had more changes the safepass will be gone for good! Also, rules don’t always apply quite so strictly in tourist areas 🙈 so I’d say it’s definitely worth the trip!
I’m in the same position! It’s so hard to find a straightforward “guide” as well. So from what I’ve gathered as long as you do a test every other day you can get a safe pass? I wonder how long it takes for the test results to be uploaded to the server. We’re hoping to stay along the coast in some more secluded areas of Cyprus so i’m hoping they will be less strict there. But who knows. Hope you guys have a good time! We are going end of April too.
