Government support to Ukraine by share of donor GDP

  1. Comparing it like this is pretty dumb because US GDP is far greater and they gave way more weapons and shit than Estonia, but according to this list you would think Estonia is some big baller while US does jack shit.

Rang list just to make rEuropeans fight against each other

  2. All my respect to Eastern Europeans. I hope our dickhead in chief macron will actually step up after the election and gave Ukraine some significant and heavy weaponry

  3. NOT ACCURATE. Lets keep that in mind. For example, Latvia is missing, and it has donated heaps, especially equipment(I tihnk it was years worth of military budget).

  4. [Government support to Ukraine: Type of assistance, € billion](https://www.ifw-kiel.de/fileadmin/_processed_/5/0/csm_UST_Grafik1_Laendervergleich_EN_4311ae4250.png)

Remember that some countries are not open about their assistance. In Poland our government when asked about military support always say something like “We are sending humanitarian aid and we are taking the refugees” so i suspect that Polish military support is way higher considering that we have a huge pile of soviet stuff that we want to replace.

  5. Meanwhile Poland received a bonus from EU – 30m EUR fines. Well deserved but though, they could at least transfer it to Ukraine so we arent pissed to the limits

And we are pissed a lot, we pay for the war the most, being poor AF and part of EU and Nato. But fuck it, we will help anyway. I can tell you, shit will remain in the air for decades, don’t miss the chance to prove yourself you’re good man like there were good people during 2nd WW

  6. Slightly misleading.

In Ireland we’re expecting a multi-billion (10?) euro bill as the cost of housing 100-200k Ukrainian refugees – so I’d expect the cost across Europe of housing refugrees will dwarf the money committed directly to Ukraine.

  7. [Here](https://www.ifw-kiel.de/fileadmin/Dateiverwaltung/IfW-Publications/-ifw/Kiel_Working_Paper/2022/KWP_2218_Which_countries_help_Ukraine_and_how_/KWP_2218.pdf) is the original source, with more details.

    Some notes to add:

    * The above graph only looks at bilateral commitments. **Not** included are for instance shares of EU commitments or non-governmental aid by the general public or private organizations.
    * Also not included is governmental aid to third countries like Dutch and German [Patriot systems](https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2022/04/08/slovakia-confirms-patriot-s-300-air-defense-systems-are-heading-to-ukraine/) for Slovakia. This allowed Slovakia to send their Soviet S-300 to Ukraine. Another part of this is humanitarian aid for refugees in countries such as Poland or Moldova.
    * The data in the article only includes equipment sent until March 27th – so it is quite outdated.
    * The data provided in the article is, at least in part, intransparent. They only provide a few examples of how they evaluated different countries.
    * The sources cited in the article are insufficient. For instance, they only cite one source for Estonia and that source only states that Estonia sends Javelins – without any numbers. The authors don’t cite their sources in the text, but only give a list at the end. Some of these sources are weird and seemingly non-related, like [this](https://www.ers.usda.gov/webdocs/publications/43833/43679_eib121_summary.pdf?v=5978.7) one.
