I’d rather try to figure out, if these murders are religiously motivated, how does a fella who moved here as a kid carry out gruesome murders like this.
– Does he attend a mosque ? Is the Iman preeching extremist views ?
– Are his parents extremists ?
– If no then what led him down this path?
– How can we stop and prevent this from happening again..
We need to learn from mistakes around Europe where these kind of attacks happen..
These are questions that need answered. We can educate children about the LGBT community but it wasn’t to long ago Muslim parents where protesting at schools in the UK for doing that.
While I get that it is satire, i think the target for this should have been Islam and it’s obvious issues towards homosexuality.
The “racists” now defending the “LGBTQ” community are third parties where as Islam is front and centre in this heinous crime so should have been the main focus.
It is nice to see someone showing support for the LGBT community. When Aisling Murphy passed, I knew people for weeks were posting on their instagram or talking about how horrific it was. Yet most of those same people are unaware of what happen in Sligo or couldn’t care less. We have two died gay men and another attempted murder. Yet because most people in this country are not gay or have limited interaction with gay men, they don’t care to be concerned about what happened.

Yeah these kinds of “satirical” articles are funny/edgy for the first few times it happens, look at the rate of similar attacks against LGBT supporters, Jewish people and women elsewhere in Europe and you can quickly understand why they eventually become tiresome. And they will become tiresome, Ireland, we learned nothing from the rest of Europe.
It’s pretty enlightening seeing this happen a few days after the Reddit thread where the gay rugby player got attacked and the vast vast majority said that all that was needed was increased Garda presence for *all* assaults, nothing needed to be done about the homophobia problem because “it’s so rare, loads of lads get assaulted”.
Not to mention the significant bunch who want to pash out at Islam for this who are *terrified* at the concept of hate crime laws because they’ve been told it makes gay people more protected than them.
And now *again* the only target people want to have is Muslims. Any “solution” is acceptable so long as the straight white Irish don’t have to look in the mirror. Hate crime laws? Immediate introduction of education on LGBT people into schools? Oh no, that won’t do, that makes me feel guilty!

Can we just not make light about religious homophobia and distract from the actual problem here… Two men dead and another injured.
Every time something like this happens there’s a rush to condemn anyone who may question if religious belief influeced it. And they only do it because Muslims are perceived as “brown”. Not allowing any discussion or criticism of Islam on this basis is ironically racist. If it was a white Christian there would be nobody calling for calm and to hold back generalisations. I’m an atheist, I’ve no support for any religion but the hypocrisy is glaring
