Dodon confirmed that, ahead of the parliamentary elections in Moldova, negotiations are underway to form a political bloc on the left flank.
According to the Socialist Party leader, most likely by the end of July, the results of the negotiations on creating a bloc of left-wing forces, which will oppose pro-European parties in the elections, will be announced.
“I want to confirm that we are holding negotiations, serious negotiations to create such a bloc on the left flank,” Dodon noted.
The name of such a bloc, according to the Socialist Party leader, is not being disclosed yet. Dodon explained that at the moment surveys and focus groups are being conducted to understand which name would be most suitable.
“But the fact that such a bloc may be created, I confirm,” Dodon added.
Igor Dodon is considered close to Russia, while the current President, Maia Sandu, on the contrary, has a pro-European orientation.
Back in May 2022, Dodon was detained in a case of corruption and state treason.
And already in November of the same year, former Moldova’s President Igor Dodon was released from house arrest and promised to take part in protests against the authorities.
