Shocking video shows how quickly the Texas flood waters rose over 20 feet in as little as 37 minutes

The death toll in the devastating Guadalupe River flash flood in south Texas has risen to 43 — including 28 adults and 15 children in Kerr County, officials said in a grim Saturday night update.

Officials said 12 adults and five children have not yet been identified. Another press conference is expected Sunday morning.

At least four of the dead — Renee Smajstrla, 8; Sarah Marsh, 8; Janie Hunt, 9; and Lila Bonner, 9 — were attending Camp Mystic, a Christian summer retreat for girls where 23 other campers were still unaccounted for.

Family members took to social media to post the heartbreaking news.

  1. How is this shocking??? Our native brothers and sisters told you "John Wayne's teeth" folks that this would happen if you didn't have respect for the land and the Creator. You folks purchased YO FAULT INSURANCE, enjoy your misery and Darwin awards.

  2. Flood couldn’t get that high if water escaped to larger area. That camp site near the river must be more like a depression that trapped the water!

  3. Wow.thats fast,and very dangerous 😢😢.as weve heard..sending love & hugs from Scotland,stay safe.💙💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🙏🙏

  4. Let me take this opportunity to be like the republicans who blame wild fires on democratic leadership and point out that it was republicans who let these floods happen. /s

  5. Elon Musk's Ai "Grok" says him, trump, and DOGE are RESPONSIBLE for the death of campers who died in the flood! It says DOGE's cuts were lead to "underestimating rainfall by 50%, and delaying alerts” 😮
