A tip for those who want to leave Facebook but want their posts etc. gone too: go to https://facebook.com/onthisday (mobile) or https://facebook.com/memories every day, and delete the stuff. It’ll take a year, but it’ll allow you to have a look a things you might want kept etc.
As to the article: surely that’s a expected, no? Commercials on commercials on commercials, for relatively bad/uninteresting content.
Currently remodeling our house. Haven’t had the electrician install coax because screw regular TV. There’s UTP connections in almost every room though!
Finally, all those people who have been proclaiming for over a decade that Facebook will collapse, are getting a little bit of hope.
Well duh, facebook is riddled with advertisements and political bullshit, classic TV is all…fucking…reality…garbage about people that think they are interesting or that are being pushed on us as if we are mongoloids that want to see some stupid family do stupid shit.

want to get rid of facebook as well, it’s just hard when that is your city’s only communication tool. anyone know a crawler that can send a mail when city x makes a post? already missed several summer camps for my kids because info was only posted there
It’s been a few years since I deleted Facebook. I still have Instagram but mainly use it to know when bands are touring.
We had classic tv when we moved into our house but cancelled it after a year because we never watched.
Can’t say I miss either.
As somebody who’s been a cordcutter for many years now, I can only applaud more people saying no to classic TV.
And if it wasn’t for a lot of my family and friends still being on FB, I would’ve said goodbye to the platform ages ago. Don’t start on there, so it’s easier to avoid.
Ditching TV subscriptions has never been so easy. Just hook an Android TV to your television and download the apps of your favorite TV station on it (e.g. VRT Nu, RTBF Auvio, VTM, RTLPlay …) . Boom now you’ve got free TV.
Never had a TV subscription and never plan to have one in the future.
Problem with Facebook is that it keeps pushing toxic external media pages to your feed. I recently deleted all my liked pages and I still see more ‘suggested for you’ and ‘sponsored’ than friend’s activities… that’s their issue.
Instagram is the same company but functionally slightly better imo. However heading the same way as I see a lot of ‘suggestions’ as well. Tiktok is out of my generation.
Classic TV is indeed outdated (except for de mol :D) . Belgium missed the train (again) and I just enjoy the foreign subscriptions…
If it weren’t for my wife’s love of Familie and Lisa I’d have gotten rid of classical tv a long time ago.
I know vtm go is a thing but I don’t know why but it’s glitchy and freezes a lot for us
I just loathe advertisements. I can’t stand the interruptions and the audacity of it. On social media its all in turbo mode, because they are personalised too. That’s not ‘helpful’ it’s downright creepy.

Waarom zou ge nog betalen voor een tv abonnement (los van da ge play sports misschien wilt)?
Telenet kabel tv is 30€ per maand + 8€ huur per maand per digicorder.
Elk vlaams tv station heeft zijn eigen gratis app nu (vrt nu, vtm go en goplay) waar ge live of uitgesteld/on demand kunt kijken.
Eenmalig aanschaffen van een chromecast voor 30€ en voor die 38€ per maand kunt ge een Netflix, Amazon Prime, Streamz en Disney+ abonnement nemen. Veel meer aanbod dan die onnozele shows/herhalingen die ze tegenwoording op de mainstream kanalen uitzenden…
