So… slavery.
Didn’t we have that before? I’m pretty sure we had that.
Maybe this time we won’t involve the Dutch.

So “work twice as hard and twice as long for 10% your current compensation, or be deported”?
Good work, America.
This will lead to a system where they have zero freedom and completely under the thumb of the farmer to be exploited.
So, indentured servants, like in Dubai? Got it.
How about this? Go after the business owners. They’re the ones that are taking advantage of people.
Are farmers going to rent out their migrants to the construction foremen or hospital administrators?
What could possibly go wrong… I’m sure the farmers will treat them very fairly & not abuse them at all. /s
“If the farmers don’t do a good job, we’ll throw them the hell out of the country,” joked the president. “We’ll let the illegals stay, and we’ll throw the farmers the hell out.”
Willing to bet farmers will like this plan until it’s them being sent to concentration camps in Sudan.
The farmers were ALREADY in charge of the migrants, at least the legit migrants. Farmers were responsible for transport and housing of their migrant workers.
Trump is once again pretending he came up with a brilliant solution when he did absolutely nothing different.
It’s fucking tedious man.
Dear immigrant who is facing deportation: you can stay in the good old USA as long as a farmer or business owner can vouch for you. But don’t piss your boss off by doing audacious things like asking for more money, asking to not being worked like a mule, or asking to be treated like a human being. Oh no. Do that and you’re fucked.
So play along like a good little serf or say hello to Alligator Auschwitz. Where well either deport you or sign you up for prison labour for which you won’t be paid at all. We all know the free prison slave labour thing is coming if this continues.
Well gee Don, that sounds like a plantation.
Ah say, ah say, boy. Pay attention to me boy! I’m not just talkin’ to hear my head roar.
That sounds… familiar
And we’ll call them plantations. I just invented that word. It’s an old word nobody uses anymore, like groceries.
Didn’t the 13th Amendment abolish this kind of thing? There was a war about it too as I recall…
Plantation? Slave plantation?
Farmer here. I’ll vouch for every single undocumented immigrant in the country who has not been convicted of a felony.
There now we don’t need ICE anymore.
Slavery.
He’s talking about slavery
To quote Chef from South Park:
“Haven’t you heard of the emancipation proclamation!?”
As others have said. This has serious potential for abuse. Tying a migrant worker’s legal status directly to an employer, with no independent oversight, is a setup for exploitation. It’s not a new idea either. The US did this during the Bracero Program, and it led to widespread wage theft and abuse. Even our current H-2A visa system has tons of documented labor violations.
What Trump’s floating here sounds like a rebranded indentured labor scheme. When workers can’t leave a job or report abuse without risking deportation, they don’t have freedom—they have dependency. That’s not “pro-worker,” it’s one bad step away from modern-day slavery.
We’ve seen how this plays out in places like the Gulf states’ Kafala system. Spoiler: it’s horrific. No matter how it’s packaged, putting that kind of unchecked power in the hands of employers is a recipe for exploitation.
Less than a year in and not only are we swiftly approaching Nazi Germany tiers of monstrous, we effectively rolled over and let the ghost of Jefferson Davis win. Fucking terrific
Many immigrants from Ireland paid for their transportation to America by signing an agreement to work for a set number of years upon arrival on farms. Some were granted small plots of land like sharecroppers after they had repaid their debt. So they want to return to the 1700s. Serfs and Lords.
I mean we all knew what “make america great again” really meant to his followers, they’re obviously referring to slavery
Never forget these same farmers burned fields of crops during covid. They buried vegetables because “no one was gonna pay for them”. These cowards took handouts and when given an opportunity to sell food for cheap because supermarkets werent buying they instead let it rot in the fields. US farmers deserve nothing, cut off the subsidies. Farmers are welfare queens, who bitch and moan about others getting handouts while they themselves have their hands out at any opportunity to benefit off government programs.
My guess would be that its a pay-to-play scheme where you pay Trump to not have ICE deport your workers.
18 hour days or I call ICE
They should issue papers to the migrants. These papers have to go with the migrant and identifies the farmer as the “owner” of those migrants’ labor. And then, when they aren’t needed, they can put those papers up for sale so that other farmers can bid on them and relocate the migrants to their farms. And if there are children born to the migrants while under this system, those children will be issued papers that can also be traded in the free market for their labor. I bet we could vibe code an auction app for this. Call it.. SLAVR?
Sounds a bit like slavery…
So like literal 18th-19th century serfdom in eastern Europe? What the actual fuck.
My god the absolute abomination the USA has become. Incredible that I am living to see a country to so perversely hellbent on turning back the clock instead of daring to venture forward and truly grow as a society.
The discrepancy between the USA and the British Colonies/EU will start off subtle, but in 5-10 years if this isn’t undone the difference will be night and day. As a Canadian I am wholly prepared for our country to end up becoming the new beacon of western freedom in the coming generations
