  1. The NWS sent a life threatening flash flood alert 3 hours before it happened. But The alert was at 1 AM (flooding at around 4 AM) and Texas officials did not act on the warning.

Just like with Uvalde no Texas state official will be fired, and Texans will likely still vote for the same leaders who put those officials into their jobs in the first place.

  2. *”Especially in the Kerrville area, there were so many people camping out near the river, people in RVs and things like that,” he said. “There are people that are not known, confirmed missing because we do not know yet who they are.”*

So, there could be even more missing. Typical climate change quick hitting deluge. Two in a few weeks in Texas

  3. The complaints from Texas state officials about federal oversight are perfect examples of r/LeopardsAteMyFace. They wanted to be tough and independent, so they can handle the sewer backup themselves. Absolute hypocrites and cowards all around.

  4. One family lost two daughters who were at the camp. I can’t imagine what that would be like.

  5. If you’re a conspiracy theorist looking for answers, try researching “flash floods”. Follow that up with looking into how many times texas has let down or flat out abandoned its citizens during any kind of disaster, natural or man made, and then you can tell me all about your conspiracies.

  6. It made me sick (but not surprised) when I saw all the maga morons talking about how this was some democrat weather manipulation event. These people are fucking sick in the head. I honestly don’t even know how we’re going to make it as a society with these idiots living amongst us.

  7. Kerr County voted 77% for Trump. *This* is what they voted for. Sorry to the dead kids whose parents wanted this to happen.

  8. Seeing photos of the camp bunks and the scattered things they left behind – stuffed animals, Stanley cups, their favorite blankets…it breaks my heart. An unimaginable loss.

  9. So is thoughts and prayers all they have to offer or is somebody going to turn the weather reporting back on.

  10. Texas will run out of kids before it runs out of Republicans.

  11. This reminds me of when the Miami condo collapsed. Everyone thought it was just a few people at first then it landed above 100 dead. Sad in both instances

  12. This is playing out exactly like the Wimberley flood on the Blanco River 10 yrs ago. Some of those victims were never found.

  13. This is probably a good time to check your own local warning system. I get emergency alerts from the province (and separate ones from the university) and they test the system twice a year. If you haven’t been getting alerts then check your phone settings (apparently you can turn them off which seems like it should not be an option), and your county/state to see how often they test their system and what their protocol is. Obviously if you live in a fire/flood/tornado/tsunami/disaster prone area then learn how to stay safe for those circumstances. If you are not confident in your local government’s emergency preparedness, then let them know!!!

  14. Donald Trump is a killer

One million or so after his first term, how many will die this time? He’s picking up the pace and taking initiative rather than waiting around for disease.

  15. Going to a youth camping spot in the Texas Hill Country is practically a right of passage in Central Texas. YMCA, church youth groups, scouting troops, and youth summer camps regularly make use of camps all over this river valley, and have for decades.

IMO, it was always a matter of when, and not if, something like this would happen.

  16. GOP policy – gut federal agencies then send thoughts and prayers

  17. Idk when Texans are going to get the message that their local state government doesn’t care about them, but if between Uvalde and this shit it’s not sinking in idk what’s going to get them to that realization.

  18. I bet the Republican party in Texas have an apology template they send to parents whose kids die because of their policies.

Just select ‘catastrophic weather event’ from the drop down box. Its right between school shooting and being denied abortion care.

  19. You guys remember that landslide in Blatten, Switzerland? I know they had more time to prepare, but still, they managed to relocate the ENTIRE TOWN’S worth of people and they all survived. They planned and were prepared and all complied.

  20. It’s awful what those people are going through and I wouldn’t wish this kind of collapse on anyone. But let’s be honest, this didn’t just happen. For decades, the GOP and its allies have worked tirelessly to gut, defund, and discredit our government. Now that all the safety nets are being shredded and the infrastructure’s being hollowed out, things like this will become more common. They’ve spent so many years torching the house we all live in. Don’t accept their blame shifting when the house burns down. Sympathy yes, but accountability too.

  21. This is what happens when you defund weather alerts and pretend that man-made climate change doesn’t exist.

  22. Mike Johnson: “All we know how to do is pray.”
Then get the hell out of goverment and let the adults do it properly!

  23. Texans in 2028 be like:

    >Remember when trump killed all 3 of my daughters due to his cutting of FEMA?

    >Oh well, who else am I gonna vote for, ***A WOMAN????***

  24. At this point, those missing people are pretty much all dead.

  25. We warned of the danger of cutting funding for critical services like NOA, FEMA, etc. I had hoped nothing like this would happen, but I expected it would. Not enough advanced warning. And it’s always Texas with these preventable or semi-preventable tragedies. Remember people freezing to death in their homes while Ted Cruz fled to the beach? Republicans rip copper out of the walls of government to sell off for scrap, and people die as a result. Fuck them, they did nothing to prevent these deaths, whether it’s on their hands or not is irrelevant. The next one might be. And they got on TV and tell people to pray. Sick people.

  26. I feel horrible for those who died and voted against these clowns who continue to run the state into the ground.
