  1. This is what I suspected: He’s desperate and starts to disown (and dis-life) the oligarchs to get their money.

  2. Could it be a serious sign of the financial strain of Russia? I don’t like to be overly optimistic, but infighting between Putin and the oligarchy could be enormous.

Edit: as the shown article doesn’t really go into detail why Strukov is being prosecuted:
    > Prosecutors have accused the 66-year-old executive of leveraging his political clout to acquire lucrative gold and coal mining assets, often registering them under the names of relatives and associates.

So yeah, seems to be just for the funds. I mean corruption charges against oligarchs is so deeply ironic, the prosecution might be struggling to keep a straight face.

  3. And so it begins… Pootain is desperate. Now he’s robbing people he put in power. More to come. The best part is the down fall of his regime.

  4. There will be a lockdown and a full mobilization after they confiscate everyone’s bank accounts. “Congrats, babushka, you’re now an investor in a coal mine as we send every male in your household to the front.”

  5. This is what Trump’s own oligarch supporters don’t get.

  6. You would think a billionaire tycoon would have some plans to avoid this situation.

  7. Having dispatched Prigozhin, I don’t think Putin has anything to fear from the remaining oligarchs. However, he’s also unseating some of the more capable people in the country. Defenestrating all of them will quickly lead to a dearth of capable administrators while Russia is even deeper in crisis.

  8. That’s 3.5 billion before a good billion is stolen by the other oligarchs.

  9. Tomorrow’s front page “Gold mining tycoon found dead after falling from window of 15th floor.”

  10. # There is no honor among thieves.

Remember he stole it all with approval anyway.

  11. I’m sure proscriptions will do wonders for the Russian economy and will totally not force capital flight.

  12. Way to go, Piss off your inner support base. Not a good sign for Putin
