SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) – The Sumter County Health Department and Sumter Vital Records, both branches of the South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH), announced that they will be temporarily relocating for about a year.
The temporary relocation began Monday while the regular facilities at 105 N. Magnolia St. undergo renovations.
The Sumter County Health Department, including WIC Nutrition Program Services, will be at 407 North Salem St., and the Vital Records Office will be temporarily located at 141 N. Main St. Both of these locations are in Sumter.
All health department services, including family planning, vaccine clinics and STD testing and treatment, will remain in place at the new locations. Vital Records will also continue offering all of their services as normal.
According to DPH’s press release, the renovations will create a “more functional space” that will deliver services “more effectively and efficiently.”
“Throughout the renovation period, it is our intention to continue supporting and serving the residents of Sumter County with minimal disruption to services,” DPH’s Pee Dee Region Health Director Jim Bruckner said. “We appreciate you and thank you for your continued support.”
The renovations are expected to be completed by June of 2026.
