TC Energy boosted the flow of natural gas into West Virginia at the end of June, as an expansion project proposed seven years ago went into service.

In a letter dated June 30, Columbia Gas Transmission, a TC Energy subsidiary, informed the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that the Eastern Panhandle Expansion Project is in service.

The project is a 3.4-mile, 47 MMcf/d capacity, interstate pipeline between Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The project is expected to provide natural gas to meet the needs of Morgan County, West Virginia, according to TC Energy’s project information.

The line was proposed to pass through a tract of land in Maryland, before its termination point. TC Energy proposed the project with the FERC in 2017, and received a notice to proceed in 2024. The line should be fully operational by the end of the third quarter, according to TC Energy’s project timeline.
