I live in a small residential apartment complex near Dublin city center, I’ve seen this guy/girl around a few times but never just hanging out grooming him/herself out the back in the grass. Seems to have a problem with fleas judging by the bare skin and all the scratching they are doing.
Mange or something. Looks well fed though.
Irish foxes can look a bit ragged every year around now as they shed their fluffier winter coat and vixens also use their own fur for bedding for their kits. However that does look a bit actively mangy. But beware can be hard to judge.
Maybe contact someone close to you on this list, they’ll be able to tell you whether or not it needs help.
Mange around the back end you can see the scabs. Awful stuff . You should see the ones around blanch shopping centre they are so frail and diseased looking !
Looks like mange. Very common in foxes unfortunately. Hedgehog Rescue Dublin might be able to point you in the right direction. I don’t know of any fox specific rescues in Ireland but I know that one in North Yorkshire will send out medicine to hide in food so there probably is a similar thing here.
Either demodectic mange or scabies most likely. A fungal infection gone nuts can.do.this too.
Hope it’s not scabies, poor fella.
If you can get into thw habit of feeding it you can get some meds into it.
Yes it looks like mange which is caused by mites. You can presume he/she is in a bad way if they have allowed you so close to get a picture.
Agreeing with some other commenters here. If you leave food out perhaps you’d be able to get some meds into him
Odd seen one yesterday walking around Edenmore in the middle of the day, thing was in bits it’s tail was all skinny and caked with dirt looked like it didn’t have a wash in months
Looks like it could be mange but he looks well fed.
While I see others are suggesting treatment etc.. one of the best things you can do is keep him well fed. Foxes that have a decent immune system are able to fight off mange (caused by mites) themselves. It only becomes really serious when they are immuno-suppressed due to illness or lack of food and the spread becomes uncontrollable. The fact there doesn’t seem to be too much evidence of scabbing would suggest it’s not too serious and as food becomes more abundant in spring/summer this fox should be able to make a recovery.
Glad rabies isn’t a thing here or that fucker would be a lot worse off.
Nature is rough. Looks like some mange mixed with seasonal shedding. But looks like it ain’t starving.

Mange as others said.
This guy/girl is in for an unpleasant end.
If you get in touch with kildare wildlife rescue someone will be able to check them out and see if they can be helped https://m.facebook.com/kildarewildliferescue/
A year on heroin will do that to someone.

Poor animal 🙁
Few drops on raw chicken or beef. We’ve cured a few local foxes with it
