For anybody in a similar situation without a kind stranger: go see your dying relative. If you get a fine the hospital are likely to forgive it, and even if they don’t it’s just a parking fine.
This isn’t happy this is sad, for 20p less he could have missed his father’s last moments.
Have to imagine that if it was me in this situation I’d just abandon the car and take the fine, but i guess you never know when you need to take those extreme measures.

This is just a bit sad and for clicks and likes. If he loved his father that much he wouldn’t have let a parking fee stop him from seeing him. Sorry if that doesn’t fit with your social media view of the world.
Just leave your car and go see your dad, ffs.
What were they gonna do? Turn around and go home?
*”oh, shit… I haven’t got enough for parking so I guess I’m not seeing Dad on his last day alive..”*
I see a bigger picture here. GET RID OF PRIVATE CAR PARKS OUTSIDE HOSPITALS!
My son was born there
The theme hold true in every walk of life…just tiny kindnesses…. be selfish if it makes you happy but you don’t know the effect it has on other’s.
If 40 million people once a day.. even just a smile… cant be bad… it makes my life tolerable making it a bit better for some random person or colleague.
At least thing about not making it worse…🙂
This is not a meme
The father wasn’t worth the price of a fine? I would park my car in A and E department if i knew my parent was dying.
That’s what I call paying it forward!
So many of these “Uplifting” stories are actually an indictment of a system that has failed to look after those in need.
Hospital parking should be free, it’s free where I live and should be everywhere else.
A parent shouldn’t have to raise £10,000 for a specialist wheelchair for his daughter.
A man shouldn’t have to work as a janitor at a university just so he can get free education for his kids.
There are many other examples of people having to work hard and fight the system just to get something that the system should have provided anyway.
Hospitals shouldn’t have parking fees.
yes, there really should be dedicated bays for those rushing to get to hospital to see their loved ones for the last time
This is cool, but can we all take second to think about how fucked it is that you have to pay to park at a hospital.
It wouldn’t have been a problem if the parking was free…
This is definitely r/orphancrushingmachine
It’s nice to give someone money for parking but we should instead maybe be talking about why you have to pay money for parking to see your dying dad?
Tbf you would off still seen your father may he r I p but the 20p and a risk of a fine wasn’t stopping you was it
Not being funny, but I’m pretty sure that if you don’t pay the parking charge, you aren’t frog marched out of your dying fathers room and thrown out like Jazz getting launched out of the house on Fresh Prince.
Plus, at my local hospital at least, if family are visiting a dying relative, all parking charges are waived.
Last Christmas I was going through a tough time. Bought some small gifts for my partner under £10, both my cards declined at the till. An older lady stood behind me offered to buy them. All I could muster was a “thanks” trying to hide tears. Such a small gesture in the grand scheme of things and I never got a chance to truly thank her but I think about that all the time. Helps me to remember there are still good people in the world
I hope that everyone here in the comments knows that paying for hospital parking is peak capitalism and it’s hurting you more than socialism ever could. Remember that next time you vote, we don’t want to be America 2.0
Or they could just make the hospital parking free… just a thought. It shouldn’t take the kindness of a complete stranger to be the difference between someone not being able to see their family on their deathbed.
Coincidence?
The fact that someone had to choose between paying for parking and seeing their dying father is a damning indictment of how we’ve monetized basic human compassion.
Next time someone asks why I carry around extra change, I’m showing them this. 🙌 #ChangeForChange
Pay for parking at hospitals is a dam crime in this day and age. Change my mind
