  1. ***From The Times:***

Like all rocky relationships, President Trump’s much-discussed “bromance” with President Putin has had its ups and downs. Yet from the trading of compliments and the mutual massaging of egos to the hours spent on the phone to each other, Putin and Trump have been closer than any American and Russian leaders in history.

Although Trump said in March he was “pissed off” with his counterpart over Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian civilians, their relationship seemed to be on the mend by May. After a two-hour phone call Trump called Putin a “nice gentleman” while a senior Kremlin adviser said “neither of them wanted to end the conversation”.

But with no indication that Putin intends to rethink his goal of bombing Ukraine into submission, Trump may be starting to realise the Russian leader is not his “best friend” — at least when it comes to geopolitics.

“I didn’t make any progress with him at all,” Trump said after another call with Putin last week. “It just seems like he wants to go all the way and just keep killing people. It’s not good.”

    # Will Putin abandon peace and normalise relations anyway?

  2. Actions speak louder than words. Give Ukraine what it needs and then I’ll have a change of heart, it’s just empty words and hot air until he does.

  3. Trump says a lot of things, doubt he’s giving up on his strongman idol

  4. There was never a bromance. He just like to extorsion europe and ukraine.

  5. there was never a bromance, only the left building a narrative about it.

  6. I don’t understand why Trump gets criticized for trying to forge relationships with countries that have been seen as our enemies. Isn’t that the goal? To try and bring them to our side and ally with them?

  7. I put about as much impact on this as I do pro-wrestling beefs.

As far as kleptocracy HAS a political alignment, they are in 100% alignment. Trump is saying stuff to get the news cycle to blow past the Epstein debacle. Trump has been “badmouthing” Putin off and on for months. He’s still stopping arms shipments to Ukraine. I don’t buy this at all.

I’m not sure I’d buy it if Trump bombed the Kremlin.

  8. No. Article finished. Seriously he will not have a divorce with Putin until forced to by Putin. Trump keeps on crawling back every time no matter what comments he makes for soundbites.

  9. Never was a bromance, the American left fabricated it to make Trump look bad

  10. Isn’t this because DT had to choose between two masters. Bibi is the current WH daddy, no room for Putin atm? Or do read the situation incorrectly?

  11. Welcome to the world with the rest of us, Mr President. Are you planning on staying a while?

  12. We go back and forth on this almost daily. Putin will make some gesture, Trump will fall in love again, and we all go back to square one, while Russia has free reign to keep grinding forward the whole time.

  13. Even if.. and that’s a gigantic IF..

One assumes Putin has no hidden leverage over Trump (Oh there were plenty of chances to get them..) , and Trump is just naive and bamboozled by Putin’s charms and logic:

Trump won’t truly understand the depth and manipulations of Russian lies, ever.

  14. Fact is he refused to deliver rockets to Ukraine. Some of them were called back when they were already in Poland.

    Listen to facts, not words

  15. Maybe Trump meant that this is something he admires in Putin

  16. Trump’s genius approach to the Russia Ukraine War is as follows:

    1. Claim, without evidence, that the war never would have happened if you’d been President (due to some unspecified personal deterrence, something to do with the sheer manliness and intimidation factor of an elderly, overweight trust-fund kid who dodged the draft).
    2. Boast that you can end the war easily before you are even inaugurated, or within 24 hours once inaugurated.
    3. Be inaugurated President, revise prior claims about how quickly you can end the war – right wing info sphere adopts the new reality (before taking office -> within 24 hours -> within 100 days)
    4. Echo Kremlin talking points, amplify their propaganda, and have US diplomats embrace their narrative at every turn, including at NATO and the UN.
    5. Blame Ukraine, the nation which was invaded, for the continuation of the invasion.
    6. Do not even attempt to push Congress to authorize new aid to Ukraine.
    7. Give Russia numerous important normative and strategic concessions in exchange for …. nothing.
    8. Withhold previously approved aid and threaten to abandon Ukraine entirely in order to pressure them into signing a deal highly favorable to US industry regarding future resource extraction.
    9. Revise your prior claims about how quickly you can end the war once the 100 day window expires in April ’25.
    10. *Finally* start paying marginal attention to the actual substance of the Ukraine War – intermittently.
    11. Get frustrated with Putin for doing what he’s been doing for years (being a dictator and would-be conqueror), not because it’s immoral, but because it denies you the ability to declare victory and move on to the next topic.
    12. Finally start to realize that Putin, the ex-KGB operative and long-time dictator who has [openly written in English](https://nationalinterest.org/feature/vladimir-putin-real-lessons-75th-anniversary-world-war-ii-162982) of his ambitions to conquer Ukraine and erase its culture, might not be such a good guy.

    GENIUS!

  17. Haven’t read the article (it’s paywalled), but the media needs to stop focusing on what rump says and focus on what he does.

  18. Blah blah blah, more empty words, and he’ll be fawning over Putin again by Monday. People forget just how good Trump is at playing the media.

  19. It took him 5 months to figure out something that was clear since the beginning of everything

  20. Trump basically spent 6 months doing a performance while continuing the exact Biden policy on Ukraine with the same pros and cons. Really not helping the uniparty and america deep state allegations.

In fact he hasn’t even shifted much on Biden’s Gaza policy which is allow Israel to do whatever the hell they want there.
