A federal Europe is coming. English is already here. Officially, there will be 30+ ‘official’ languages, 29+ of which will be spoken only occasionally.
As long as it’s not a romance language or god forbid, French, I can live with it.

The evil abomination of a language we will create will be even worse than the mutilated versions of “English” used by Americans, Indians, Nigerians or Birminghammers.
This is the problem with a federal Europe. I personally don’t have an issue with English, it’s just a mishmash of mainland European languages. But if you want to foster a general “European feeling” in your population and you don’t even speak their main language… good luck. You think people are too disconnected from politics and don’t care about voting now? Try convincing them to vote for your party in a foreign language lol.
I think the biggest change in politics we went through in the past couple of centuries (in a very simplified way), is the government went from a ruler to more of a representative (of us internationally, of our interests nationally and so on). How can a government who can’t even bother to speak a language of the EU, represent the EU?

Tbh I would prefere us all talking English instead of our local languages. It basically already is anyways but having an official United language would make things lot easier. And English is easy so it would be a fitting United language.

I vote Irish so we can resuscitate the almost dead language and stick it to barry because he tried real hard to wipe it out

let’s just be funky and have different official languages for different purposes. make all the soldiers speak Danish. make all the doctors speak Portuguese. why not?
