  1. Not gonna lie, this is pretty dumb. We need expansion of all sources to meet demand. Nothing says energy dominance like pidgeonholing yourself for the sake of owning the libs.

  5. Restricting energy supply can only mean higher prices, no matter how much you “drill baby drill.” He literally doesn’t understand basic economics.

The US government provides the renewable energy industry with about $15 billion in direct and indirect subsidies.  The US government provides the fossil fuel industry with about $750 billion in direct and indirect subsidies.  We should get rid of all energy subsidies and see which wins.  Green energy in a landslide.

  9. Republicans have shown us the way forward on this:
    * We need to put immense pressure on the next Democrat president to declare a national climate emergency in order to grant the executive branch a bunch of bonus authority.
    * Immediate tariffs on all foreign oil and natural gas coming into the country, and remove any/all tariffs on solar panels and batteries from China. Gas prices need to spike dramatically.
    * Mobilize national guards and military to go in and shut down domestic oil and coal production. They can scale it down slowly if they are too concerned about price shocks.
    * Immediately shut down any coal plants.
    * Sanctions against any and all countries not reducing their oil production. Military action as well, if necessary.
    * Executive order making the military open their technology to aide in climate research and monitoring

    I title this plan the “Fuck it, and fuck Republicans”.

  16. As someone who works in utility scale solar projects all of this rampant fear of cutting various subsidies from IRA is overblown.

    When the IRA was passed I likened it to pouring gasoline on a roaring fire, it’s not necessary but it’s not going to hurt either.

    The economies of scale are already there for Utility PV and the main obstacles or continuing to develop better and better energy storage and interconnect regulations (not really government money needing to go into projects)

    There will be certain projects that will die from the lack of extra governmental funds but it’s not the norm from my perspective so far.

  17. Pretty sure this means nothing to the big producers. Budgets are already in play. And none of them can trust Trump with anything. Coal power will not increase. They been working that out of the system for years. Energy prices will continue to rise for consumers, including natural gas and electricity,

  18. People do realize that presidential executive orders are not law? Congress holds the purse strings for all of these renewable energy programs. And many of these EO’s are just blatantly illegal.
